Certified Qoya Teacher
Spiritual Guide and Artist
Abigail Risica, a zen practitioner of 22 years and a director for the nonprofit organization Joshu Zen Temple Inc. (JTZ), believes that we are all on a journey of the realization of the interconnectedness in all as one and within our unique experiences of this journey, guides us to this as truth.
Abigail Risica teaches ancient zen practice, as well as modern meditation techniques for beginners and beyond to presently meet the needs of their practice. As a zen practitioner, she is a artist, writer, and guide, working within the arts to promote higher consciousness, self awareness, and visual medicine, as well as a facilitator of sound healing meditation and movement.
She is a certified Qoya teacher. Qoya is a profound meditative practice using movement as medicine. Qoya is based on the idea that through movement we remember, we remember our true essence of wise, wild, and free. Through this movement we can explore our body, meet ourselves where we are at in the present moment and allow any stuck negative energy move through they body within our creative expression of dance. In Qoya there are no levels and no wrong way to move and be you.
She is a facilitator of Restorative and Balancing Vibrational Sound Healing, utilizing the frequency of Tibetan and quartz crystal singing bowls, quartz crystal tuning forks, essential oils, as well as other sound frequency tools and modalities, providing a blissful environment to experience the senses and a deep state of of rest and restoration. The basic principle of sound healing is the concept of resonance (the vibratory frequency of an object.) The entire Universe is in a state of vibration. This includes every human being, every organ, cell, bone, tissue and liquid of the body, and the electromagnetic fields which surround the body, has a healthy vibratory frequency. If we are not resonating with some part of ourselves or our surroundings, we become dissonant and therefore unhealthy, our naturally healthy frequency becomes a frequency that vibrates without harmony, creating illness.
The application of Sound Healing frequencies to the subtle energy fields around the body removes blockages and penetrates into the deep layers of physical body as well as addressing the emotional body simultaneously.
She is the creator of Be the Bullfrog. Be the Bullfrog Sound and Movement Meditation Workshop is a practice allowing us to open our hearts as we experience the presence of ourselves in harmony with sound as one. This allows our true essence and vibration to be our own medicine using our breath, chakra chanting, visual guided meditation, chakra activating and opening movement/free dance, and crystal quartz singing bowl chakra balancing meditation/relaxation.
Within all of these modalities, one can, also, explore deeper into the inner dimensional self, as well as experience the greater connective journey of wisdom and understanding of presence.
Be the Bullfrog Sound and Movement Meditation Workshop provides an array of connection into oneself and within the interconnectedness of all things, promoting self confidence, compassion for self and others, clarity, and an overall presence of well being.
She uses Guiding Arts Mediation in a group setting or one on one session incorporating guided meditation to help tap in ones inner artist to become aware of the passion and talent one possess, as well as help one to explore deeper into the inner dimensional self as well as experience greater connective journey of wisdom and understanding through writing, sketching, painting, or any facet to facilitate inspiration.
She is the founder and CEO of The WakeUp Project Inc. nonprofit organization. The WakeUp Project is a nonprofit public benefit corporation formed to provide charitable services and organized events for individuals and communities with special needs, those suffering or in need, victims of abuse, as well as children subjected to bullying. Our mission serves to connect, educate, and provide resources assisting in mental, emotional, and physical support to these individuals and communities by implementing our services designed specifically for our purpose.
In addition, we are called to inform and make aware to those in need of other various programs, practitioners and non profits we believe to be beneficial in assisting mental, emotional, and physical support to these individuals and communities; collectively casting a broader net of connection.
We understand those in need may not be aware or fully informed of the services that can assist them in their suffering. We believe that all people who suffer deserve access to what life has to offer and to understand that behind every complication lies a truth to be aware of and educated in. A truth that can help direct them to live within their fullest passion and potential, creating a platform for a thriving community as a whole.
Abigail Olsen Risica has developed ‘The Ripley Effect’ program with her 13 year old son, Ripley Risica, serving as the Anti-bullying practice for the nonprofit organization, The WakeUp Project. This program is based on movement and meditation techniques for our youth to gain awareness and understanding emotionally, mentally, and physically, as well as giving them permission to speak, feel, and know what doesn’t serve them and how it can be moved out of the heart, mind, and body by using ‘The Ripple Effect’ practice.
Abigail Olsen Risica is passionate to break down the borders that surround our hearts. To awaken the mind to see further into how we can empower ourselves and each other.
